Queensland Team is seeking nominations for the 2008 Queensland Team. The team will travel to Darwin to compete in the National Championships in September. Nominations for the team close 16 July 2008. Please return your nomination form to secretary@qba.net.au There is an expectation that those interested players will participate in the Queensland Open held on 19-20 July 2008. The Queensland Badminton Association is raising funds by selling the 2008/2009 Entertainment Book. Selling for $60, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Entertainment Books will help fund Queensland Junior Teams attend the National Championships. The Qld Under 17 team participated in the 2008 June Bevan Carnival and Australasian Championships over Easter. The team placed a credible 8th overall in a tournament with 16 teams from Australia and New Zealand. Wendy Chen was again the stand out player of the team in both the teams and the individual events. Wendy was a semi finalist in both the girls singles and doubles (with partner Christina Chan) and a quarter finalist in the mixed doubles (with partner Mitchell Wheller). As a result of her performances, Wendy achieved the following Australian rankings in the U17 age group: Girls Singles: 2 Girls Doubles: 1 with Christina Chan Mixed Doubles: 2 with Mitchell Wheller On the boys side Mitchell Wheller also played well and achieved the following Australian U17 rankings: Boys Singles: 7 Boys Doubles: 3 with Leslie Yau (NSW) Mixed Doubles: 2 with Wendy Chen Wendy was also awarded the Val Nesbitt Trophy which is awarded to the player of the tournament who exhibits the highest standards of sportsmanship, personality , court demeanor, player ability and appearance. Well done to not only Wendy and Mitchell but all members of the Qld U17 team for the efforts and behaviour. Thanks also to Ulf Lundquist and Vivian Chan for taking on the roles of coach and manager of the team.
| Qld Associations Successful in Badminton Australia Equipment Grant

Badminton Oceania have donated 75 rackets, 20 dozen plastic shuttles and 10 nets to Badminton Australia for development purposes. This equipment was available for registered clubs/associations to apply for junior development purposes for a schools program initiative.
Two Queensland Associations have been successful in their applications for the Badminton Australia Equipment Grants. The Sunshine Coast Badminton Association will receive 25 rackets, 5 tubes of shuttles and 4 new nets. The Brisbane Badminton Association will receive 25 rackets and 5 tubes of shuttles. Well done to these Associations

| Rockhampton Badminton Carnival

 Rockhampton PCYC Badminton Club held a Badminton carnival over the Easter break - 23rd March. PCYC members from Emerald, Yeppoon and Rocky participated in round robin events: - Mens doubles, Ladies doubles, Mixed doubles . All players totally enjoyed playing in the carnival. Rocky hope to hold such carnivals more often - to encourage players of all ages to have Fun playing badminton.
